Master Chef: School Edition

Whats for Friday? School works with a side of Sardines

Friday.

For most students, it is the day they have been waiting for–the sweet ending to another week of hellish school days. But at Tupi National High School, Friday is not simply welcomed with a “hooray.”

Here, Fridays come with a different kind of celebration: sardine cuisine.

It all started on July 29, 2026, when Century Pacific Food Inc. Donated 12,508 cans of sardines to Tupi National High School via the Century Pacific Group-RSPo Foundation as part of the Kain Po School-based Feeding Program. After that, Friday is no longer just about school, Friday is now about channeling your inner chef and competing about who makes the most gourmet sardine dish.

Unice Visitasyon, a student, stated that “Enjoy din naman mag luto-luto ng sardinas. Dapat maging creative ka talaga sa paraan ng pag luto mo ng tinapa’’

Every Friday, it’s not exhausted groans that echo in the classroom hallways, it’s the sound of sizzling oil, the chattering of students, and flipping of tinapa patties that fill the air. Another batch of sardine cans are expected to arrive next month up till the end of the school year, up till students graduate
